-----Deep Sigh-----

My son has always been a great night sleeper- no big deal.  True he doesn't sleep during the day well at all and is a light sleeper, but I could always count on my nights.  Since around Christmas he has fallen off the wagon.  I think he is driving me insane!  He wakes up 2 or 3 times a night!  He will fall asleep if I pick him up but wakes up and cries everytime I set him down!  I don't know what the deal is.  I have read a million posts and websites blah blah blah- they all say something different.  It is tough- I hate that I can't talk to him.  He also has gotten really whinny-  I feel like I am living with a drama queen and he is only 7 month old!  I think I need to start looking for a philosophy for discipline- I know it sounds early but I really think it would help me.

So these are my issues this fine frigid Monday morning.  Any great advice??
Peace
Grace

I've been reading this book. I know I'm not officially a parent but this like something that will help me be a good one. You might give it a try: http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl/9780553806670.html

If that link doesn't work the title is Child Sense by Pricilla Dunstan

Here comes my opinion, in year six of raising kiddos...(Disregard if you don't like it, but PLEASE don't be offended!)
I think of discipline as "training," not "punishment." So, in that sense, you're pretty much training your baby from birth. The question, then, is - what are you training him to do/expect/believe/etc? Seven months is young, but remember that we are BORN sinners, so it's really not TOO young to need correction. The first time I *corrected* 3 of our 4 children was on the changing table at about 4 months of age. Sounds early, but on the other hand, they needed to be trained not to wiggle and roll while they were being changed.

A book that Luke has read (okay, listened to, almost the same!) and I am halfway through and LOVE is called Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp. I highly recommend it.
